Certified Public Accountant Job Description
Purpose:Under the direct supervision of the CEO and CFO, this position provides vital functions to HELP of Southern Nevada including accounting services, financial, and internal auditing.
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:
- Certified public accountant will be responsible for areas such as strategic planning, budget development and fraud prevention.
- Prepare financial statements and reports, analyzing ledgers.
- May be required to assist with accounts payable and receivable, forecasting expenses.
- Required to monitor business financial activities, identify and investigate variances, and resolve issues.
- Monthly auditing of inventory spreadsheet.
- Auditing departmental files for compliance and accuracy.
- Develop and provide sound solutions to program needs, answers questions and provides information regarding audit process.
- Meet with departmental Management to discuss and explain audit findings; provides implementation assistance and follow up to ensure accuracy.
- Learn the goals, objectives, and operational standards of the departments to be audited.
- Work with external auditors, respond to any audit letters and deficiencies
- Other related duties may be assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge in extensive accounting field.
- Knowledge of nonprofit compliances and nonprofit accounting.
- Skill in providing sound solutions.
- Skill in resolving problems or situations requiring the exercise of good judgment.
- Skill in communicating clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to quickly analyze facts and figures and operate at the highest level of integrity.
- Ability to work under high-pressure circumstances.
- Professional competence in creating databases and working effectively using Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Power Point and QuickBooks. Excellent computer and math skills.
- Ability to enter and extract data to/from an automated database.
Minimum Qualifications
Education and/or Equivalent Experience:
- Bachelor Degree in Accounting or related field and must be a Certified Public Accountant. (Copy of certification is required)
- NON Profit accounting background preferred.
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug test.
Licenses or Certifications Required:
- A valid Nevada Class C Drivers license.
- Current Certified Public Accountant certification.
